Painting FAQs

  • Do you give free estimates?

    • Yes – For simpler jobs, we can often prepare the estimate before we leave the site. If the job is more complex (several areas are being painted or stained), it may take a few days to calculate your estimate. Colorado Home Renewal’s estimates are good for 30 days from the date of the estimate.

  • What kind of paint do you use?

    • We prefer to use beautiful Sherwin-Williams’ Duration Interior and Exterior Acrylic Latex, formulated with PermaLast® technology and infused with advanced acrylic co-polymers for long-lasting performance. (Other options are available based on customer preference.)

  • Is your workmanship guaranteed?

    • Yes. Colorado Home Renewal warranties its exterior painting for 3 or 5 years.

  • What do I look for when deciding I need to paint my house?

    • Any time you see peeling, cracking, fading or chalking paint, it is time to get it taken care of. If you have siding that is expanding from absorbing moisture, or damaged or rotting wood, you should have it inspected and repaired. See our page on common paint problems for more information.

  • What is the typical process of Colorado Home Renewal’s painting services?

      • All exterior walls and trim are power-washed to remove dirt and anything that may reduce the new paints ability to adhere to the painted surface
      • All damaged areas are scraped and sanded to remove any loose caulk or paint.
      • All bare wood is primed.
      • Damaged wood is repaired or replaced.
      • All cracks and open joints are caulked.
      • The base color is applied.
      • Trim and accents are painted.

  • What is the best time of year to get my house painted

    • Interior painting can be done any time of year. Exterior projects can still continue year round if weather conditions are mild. However, there are a few key factors to consider:
      • For oil-based paint, the temperature should be between 40 and 90 degrees; with latex paint, 45-85 degrees is recommended.
      • Paint needs to have a couple of hours to dry before there is any precipitation and before temperatures drop below 40 degrees.
      • After wood has been power-washed, it should air dry for 24-48 hours before being painted or stained.
      • Stain requires a longer time to cure. If it is a penetrative stain, it will be dry in 24-48 hours. A non-penetrative stain can take up to a week. Each coat should be dry before the next coat is applied.

  • If someone gets hurt working on my house, can I be sued?

    • Not if you are using Colorado Home Renewal. We are fully insured with both liability and Worker’s Compensation insurance. If there are any accidents, we will cover the expense through our insurance.
